Anatomical Directions and Body Cavities:
A Course of Study
We are going to embark on an introductory course of study of the basic foundations of Physiology. Through this sequence you will examine the terminology used to describe relationships about the body and the basic arrangement of the internal parts of the body. This process will involve readings from the text and the web; lab exercises and written work. In the end, you will have created a 'portfolio' of work that you will then be tested on.
Listed below are the assignments in the order you should complete it. The design is such that you have the greatest success in completion and understanding of the material. Do your best to work on your own; you will learn less if you copy from others. Don't cheat yourself.
This sheet will serve as a portfolio cover' that will precede all the work in your binder (note: some will be in your lab book). As the work is completed I will check it off below. Some will have specific due dates, others will be due at the end of the unit. Part of your grade on this assignment is completion in a timely matter.
• Vocabulary- define the Directional Vocabulary terms from the Class Web site. Do these words in your Lab Book. Due Date will be:
• Text reading- From your book, Chapter 1, read pages 16-18 on directions and planes; read pages 18-21 on body cavities and membranes; Chapter 4, read pages 98-100 on membranes. As you read, outline the chapter or take notes on the material. Do each section as we cover each segment in class (don't do body cavities while we are studying directions). Do each section on separate pages to be added to your binder (will follow this sheet). Show me each section for checking when completed.
• Color sheets- Plate 1 on Terminology. Be sure to be neat. PLEASE be neat! These will be turned in for grading. When returned they are to be entered into your binder. Due Date is:
• Lab Exercises #1a & 1b- Your text book will help out with these. This assignment will be done in your Lab Book and will be graded.
• Supplemental Exercise- Complete the Language of Anatomy, and Body Cavities Review & Concept Map. Due Date is:
